Although discoveries are still few, in various basins, an H2system has been described and characterized by the H2 generating rocks, migration pathway and potential reservoir. This session will be devoted to various case studies including off course Mali where available data started to be more numerous and allow to better define this accumulation.

Session 2
Ongoing research
The H2 Generating Rocks are now reasonably known. The oxidoreduction, the radiolysis and the late maturation of the organic matter seems the main reactions. However, the kinetic of these reaction as well as the transport more and the accumulation of the H2 in subsurface still need improvements. Major federative research projects are being launched all over the world; bilateral projects also exist. We'll try to give you an overview.

Session 3
New tools for H2 E&P
New tools are needed at all levels. to characterize rocks, gas and soil gas emanations, but also to do basin modelling to find out where H2 is generated and where it can accumulate before drilling. Geophysics tools to image H2 flow and accumulation in subsurface are also expected. When drilling specific logging is requested. The service compagnies and operators will share offers and expectations in this session.
