Nicolas Pélissier is the co-founder and President of 45-8 ENERGY, a company dedicated to the exploration and production of eco-responsible industrial gases, natural hydrogen and helium. Nicolas Pélissier holds a double engineering degree in geology (UniLaSalle) and petroleum geosciences (IFP-School). He began his career at Total, where he spent 11 years in charge of Oil & Gas exploration and development projects, including more than 7 years abroad (Yemen, Algeria, Libya, Angola). Following a heightened awareness of current environmental issues, he co-founded the start-up 45-8 ENERGY with the ambition of using his skills for strong entrepreneurial actions to serve the ecological transition. Founded in 2017, with more than €30m raised to date and now boasting more than 30 employees, the company is recognized as one of Europe's leaders in natural hydrogen and helium E&P, with several projects underway in France, Germany and Kosovo. Very active in French entrepreneurship and innovation networks, Nicolas Pélissier is a co-founder and member of the steering committee of the Earth2 initiative, which brings together players in the European underground hydrogen sector (natural and geological storage). He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the MATERALIA competitiveness cluster, which specializes in processes, materials and energy.

Overview of the French exploration licences - Grand Rieu, a project at the heart of the promising hydrogen ecosystem in south-west France
The presentation by our colleagues from Terrensis highlighted the prospective interest in natural hydrogen in this specific area of the French Pyrenees. The aim of this new intervention will be to show that, in addition to its promising geological position, the "Grand Rieu" project, led by 45-8 Energy and Storengy, and more generally the projects in the area, are in a very favorable “Above Ground” situation.  The location encourage synergies between projects, at upstream and downstream levels as part of a particularly dynamic local and regional hydrogen ecosystem, supported by existing infrastructures or infrastructures already in project. It will facilitate concrete offtake opportunities for natural hydrogen and any associated co-products. We will also look at the production volumes that could be envisaged, the estimated production costs to date and the current timeline in order to fully materialize this promising project for the natural hydrogen industry in France and Europe.
